Saturday started out with me taking the family to the UNC vs. Maryland game at Kenan Stadium. We left around the 3rd quarter, they drove back to Raleigh, and I conveniently had a wedding to rock right around the corner at Great Room at Top of the Hill (http://topogreatroom NULL.com). An awesome venue in the perfect location in Chapel Hill!
Amanda and Tyler planned this wedding in only a few short months, but you could never tell, it was perfect. They had their ceremony in the larger room, then the guests moved into the bar area for drinks and passed food while the staff “flipped” the room and I began to set up my DJ equipment. After about an hour, the room was totally transformed and ready for their introduction, just the bride and groom. I played a little snippet of “Shipping Up To Boston” by Dropkick Murphys because this was an Irish wedding and that song seemed perfect. They went right into their first dance, James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is”, and then the did the parent dances. They actually did a combo dance, Tyler and his mom and Amanda and her dad, to “What a Wonderful World”. I announced that the buffet was open, and dinner began. I will say that I got a chance to grab a quick bite, and this was some great Southern cooking-BBQ, fried chicken, beans and more! Awesome food!
As dinner began to wrap up, several family members toasted the newlyweds. As the last toast ended, it was dancing time. It took a couple of songs to get folks out there, but once I did, it was a killer party! The songs that killed were “Party Rock Anthem”, “We Found Love” and “Gangnam Style” was havoc! The only stops were the cake cutting, bouquet and garter, and then it was right back to dancing until their rose petal sendoff around 10:oopm. What a great party! Congrats Capt. and Mrs. Tyler Fitzgerald! I can’t wait to see the pictures that Rebecca Ames (http://becciames NULL.com) sends me.
