Erin & Matt’s New Year’s Eve Wedding

Erin and Matt picked one of my favorite wedding venues for their ceremony and reception on New Year’s Eve, The Pavilions at The Angus Barn here in Raleigh, NC. The evening started with a beautiful ceremony in front of the fire place for which we provided the audio. Their musical selections were perfect especially the recessional song choice, “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall & Oates! Loved that playing as they made their way back down the aisle!

The Reception

As soon as the ceremony ended, the guests went to the cocktail hour in the heated tent behind the pavilion for drinks and the amazing appetizer spread that The Barn is known for. The staff then began to “flip” the room for dinner and dancing. As cocktails wrapped up, the guests were seated and I introduced the couple to “Sugar” by Maroon 5. They then went right into their first dance “Jeep’s Blues” by Duke Ellington. I loved the throwback approach and it seemed perfect for such an elegant New Year’s wedding! Next up, the father of the bride welcomed everyone and gave a quick blessing. Dinner was served after that and it was awesome (as always)! As dinner wrapped, Erin and her father danced to a custom edit we made of “Trouble” by Ray Lamontagne and “When You Need Me” by Springsteen (this was a surprise and joke from dad to Erin). Matt and his mom danced next to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. Then it was my turn! Open dancing started out strong! We took a brief break for the cake cutting (“You Are The Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne”) and then it was right back to more dancing leading up to the midnight hour. Just before midnight I played “Shout” and “I Gotta Feeling” and that go everyone hype. We did the countdown, played “Auld Lang Syne”, popped bottles, rocked a couple more tunes ending with “I’ve Had the Time of My Life”, and then it was time for the sparkler exit! What a great way to end/start the year! I can’t wait to see some of the magical pics that Brian Mullins shot! Also, shout out to Shannon with Bespoken (who was also in the wedding) for pulling double duty and coordinating the planning.  Happy New Year to you all and to Erin and Matt Hagg!
