Mike and Melissa’s entire day took place inside the historic Merrimon-Wynne House on Blount St. right here in Raleigh, NC. Most of the couples we have worked for utilize the tent and grounds, but since this was a small wedding (about 80 folks), they did it all inside and to be honest, it worked out great!
The day started with some pre-ceremony cocktails around 4:00. The ceremony started at 5:00 and I provided the pre-recorded music. They picked some great stuff for the ceremony music like “Intro” by The XX and also “I Lived” by One Republic as the recessional. Talk about non-traditional and awesome! After the ceremony, the guests left the room and we flipped it by moving in my DJ gear and cocktail rounds, and moving out all the chairs. It was then ready for the party! Around 6:00, I introduced just the bride and groom down the stairs and Mike gave a brief welcome before the amazing food stations from Rocky Top Catering opened. They had all kinds of amazing food-taco bar, carving station, potato bar and even flaming donuts for dessert!
After everyone got their fill, we knocked out the first dance to Lionel Richie’s “You Are” and then the parent dances. Melissa and her dad danced to “Daughters” by John Mayer and Mike and his mother danced to “A Song for My Son” by Mikki Vierick. After those dances, I opened the dance floor for a while with some oldies and classics for a while before we paused for the best man and matron of honor toasts. I then sent Mike and Melissa over the gorgeous layered cake for cutting. Once that was done, it was nothing but dance music until the end of the night. Trust me when I tell you that these folks came to get down! What a party! Right around 11, I played the last dance and sent everyone out from with confetti to shower the couple as they left. Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. Baer! Great wedding!
