Ruthie and Danny definitely picked a hot August day for their wedding, but it didn’t matter, it was still an amazing day. The day started with an outdoor ceremony at the relatively new venue The Cloth Mill, which they kept short and sweet. The highlight was when Ruthie’s brother sang a song. Excellent! After the ceremony, the guests quickly made their way inside for cocktail hour while I broke down the ceremony rig.

The Wedding Introductions

As the cocktail hour was wrapping up, I went upstairs and got everyone ready for the big introduction to “Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities. When it was time for Ruthie and Danny to enter, I switch it to Usher’s “OMG” and everyone went crazy as they made their way down the stairs and to the dance floor for their first danced. They danced to Shania Twain’s “Still the One” and then the father of the bride welcomed everyone. I feel like he and I are old friends. I have done three weddings now with his kids! As the buffet dinner ended, it was time for toasts and cake cutting.

The Dancing

Once the cake was cut, Ruthie and her father took the dance floor for what turned out to be a very memorable father/daughter dance. They started out slow and easy for a couple of minutes with the Collin Raye song “I Wish I Could” and then I mixed into Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” and they did a full on routine! Everyone loved it! Danny and his mom followed them by doing a dance to Eve Cassidy’s version of “Danny Boy”. Next up was open dancing which lasted over 2 1/2 hours with only a short break for the bouquet toss (“I Wanna Dance with Somebody”-Whitney Houston) and garter toss (“Mission Impossible Theme”). What an amazing party! I can’t wait to get back to the Cloth Mill. A shout out to Amanda with A Swanky Affair for another well executed wedding event!

DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Begin a wedding DJ is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide all our Raleigh Weddings again and again.
