Lake O’ The Woods Estate in Warrenton, NC Wedding Venue
Morgan Leigh and Alan’s reception took place on a beautiful (but hot) day in early September at an amazing venue about an hour outside of Raleigh called Lake of the Woods. I had been there years ago for an ISES retreat, but this was my first gig DJing there…and it was great! The reception took place outside for about 300 guests. The day started with cocktails in front of the house and entertainment by an acoustic guitar player/singer.
Soon after, folks started moving to the back where I was set up and I went inside to line up the bridal party. They made their entrance to “Whoomp There It Is” by Tag Team and when Alan and Morgan Leigh finally hit the dance floor they went right into their first dance “Baby I’m Yours” by Arctic Monkeys (great song choice!). Next, Morgan Leigh and her dad danced to “I Don’t Dance” by Lee Brice, and then Alan and his mother danced to “The Wonder of You” by Elvis.
Once the formal dances were out of the way, Morgan Leigh’s father welcomed everyone and then it was time to eat! There were amazing food stations everywhere and the guests seemed to enjoy it all! Shortly after, the cake was cut and served and then we went ahead and did the bouquet toss (“Wannabe” by The Spice Girls) and garter toss (“Howlin’ for You” by The Black Keys). With the formalities out of the way, it was time to party! And the guests did just that!
Do you know who else rocked that dance floor? Morgan Leigh! Man, I love brides like that! She was dancing almost the entire night! What a great party and a great start to September. Here’s to a great Fall!
