David and Michelle’s reception this past Saturday took place at the amazing Nasher Museum of Art in Durham, NC. This was my first time playing here and I must say it is a huge room, but great for receptions. Guests arrived around 6:00pm for cocktails and I played my mix of standards and acoustic greats. The bridal party showed up around an hour later and were introduced to “Everlasting Love” by Natalie Cole. The Father of the Bride then welcome everyone and Pastor Sloop gave a great blessing before the plated salads and buffet opened. The food looked amazing (Durham Catering) and as the plates cleared, the champagne started flowing in anticipation of toasts by the best man and maid of honor. Both of them did a great job with short, but sweet toasts.
Finally, it was time for some dancing! Michelle and David did their first dance to “LOVE” by Nat King Cole and then Michelle and her dad danced, followed my David and his mom. Next up was some open dancing! I opened with an easy one Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and then rocked a great set of oldies and wedding classics for the first part of the wedding. The only other time we stopped was briefly for the cake cutting (I played “Carolina In My Mind” by James Taylor) and then it was right back to dancing until 10:45. Their last dance, “At Last” by Etta James, was a perfect closer. I loved the way the night ended. I asked for another round of applause for the new Mr. and Mrs. Buff, and they walked up onto my stage area, waved, and then left in the waiting car out the back door. It was so rock star! What a great night! I hope to get some great images from photographer Courtney Potter.
DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Begin a wedding DJ is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide all our Raleigh Weddings again and again.
