Well there is nothing like a great wedding to get you fired back up after too much Christmas turkey! Last Friday, I left Raleigh shortly after lunch headed to western North Carolina for the wedding of Caroline and Andrew. Guests began arriving at Cleveland Country Club around 5:45 pm and even though I wasn’t scheduled to start until later, I went ahead and started playing cocktail music (I’m nice like that). Just before 7:00, I intro’d just the bride and groom to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and all of the 250 guests went wild as they made their way into the main room. The bride’s grandfather gave an amazing blessing and then the massive dinner buffet opened. The food was excellent!
As dinner, Caroline and Andrew cut the cake and then two of their friends gave great toasts. As soon as toasts ended, we went right into the special dances. Caroline and Andrew danced to one of my favorite songs of 2013 by far, “All Of Me” by John Legend. That song is magic. Next up, Caroline and her father danced to “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor. And finally, Andrew and his mother danced to “Somewhere over the Rainbow” by Brother Iz. As soon as that song faded and everyone clapped, it was game time. I played a few oldies and beach songs to get people moving, but also played a lot of Top 40 hits as well. My DJ, Randy Bennett, did a nice custom song edit of “Move” by Ludacris and “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls for the bouquet toss and that was the only break I gave the dancers. It was a non-stop dance party until right around 10:30 when we had everyone line up outside for the big sparkler departure. What a great wedding, and totally worth the 3.5 hour drive! I may have to get out of Raleigh more often! Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. Murrell. Special shout out goes to Priscilla and Andrew with Orangerie Events for doing a great job making sure the night ran smoothly and for convincing the couple to bring me to Shelby, NC!
DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Begin a wedding DJ is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide all our Raleigh Weddings again and again.
