Katy and Erik’s wedding at the historic Merrimon-Wynne House was one for the books! Sometimes Sunday weddings are scary. You don’t know if guests are going to be into it or leave early due to work the next day. Let me say, this crowd came to party! The day began with the ceremony out on the lawn outside the house. It was a hot one, but a gorgeous ceremony complete with a harpist and even the sword ceremony afterward (Erik is a Marine captain). If you have never seen this, I urge you to get an invite to Marine’s wedding in the near future, ha!
After the ceremony, guests went inside the original house to enjoy AC and cocktails. I took down the ceremony system and made final preparations in the Carriage House for the dinner and dancing portion of the evening. The guests came back in and then I introduced just the couple to “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. They went right into their first dance “For The Rest of Our Life” by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. What a great wedding song! Katy’s father welcomed everyone then dinner from Rocky Top Catering was served.
As dinner wrapped up, Katy and Erik cut the beautiful cake by Ashley Cakes and then the maid of honor and best man gave their toasts. Next up Katy and her dad danced to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw and Erik and his mother danced to “My Wish” by Rascal Flats. The dance floor opened after that and both Erik and Katy rocked it hard! I love couples that dance. It makes the party that much better. You lead by example! The only break was for the bouquet and garter toss and then of course, being pilots, the gents serenaded Katy to “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” by The Righteous Brothers. Very “Top Gun”. Loved it! The night ended with some rousing sing-a-longs like “Shout”, “Sweet Caroline” and “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers. What a wedding! What a Sunday! Shout out to the all-star vendors: A Southern Soiree, English Garden, Ginny Corbett, and Thomas Blake Films.

DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Begin a wedding DJ is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide all our Raleigh Weddings again and again.
