Alina and Trevor’s wedding reception took place at the historic (and amazing) Merrimon-Wynne House in Raleigh, NC. The day began with a perfect outdoor ceremony on a perfect Fall day. I did the microphones and live musicians handled the music. I recall two of the songs in particular. When Trevor and the officiant walked in, they played the “Game of Thrones” theme song! And during the recessional they nailed the song “Marry You” by Bruno Mars! Awesome way to start the day!
The Wedding Intro’s
After the ceremony, James Walters, their award-winning photographer, took everyone aside for family photos while the guests made their way inside for cocktail hour, or on the lawn for games of giant Jenga or corn hole. The weather was so perfect for this! I got everyone lined up after that for the bridal party introduction. Since the official wedding hashtag was #everybodyvancenow, you know they had to come in to C&C Music Factory’s “Gonna Make You Sweat”! What a killer start to the party! As Trevor and Alina entered it was madness in the carriage house. They went right into their first dance, “Steady As We Go” by Dave Matthews Band. Great choice! Next, Trevor and his mom danced to “Humble & Kind” by Tim McGraw and then Alina and her father took the dance floor. I intentionally put them on second because they had something special planned. The dance started with Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me” and then cut to an awesome Spanish song after about 90 seconds. I invited guests to join them and tons of folks did! Great start to dancing! Next, Alina’s dad welcomed and thanked everyone and the outstanding buffet by Rocky Top Catering opened up. The food was great!
After dinner, we knocked out the toasts and cake cutting (Relient K’s “Must Have Done Something Right”) and then opened up the dance floor. From song one to the end, that floor stayed packed and jumping. Alina and Trevor were right there in the middle of it all going off! The only time we stopped the dancing was for the bouquet toss (“Single Ladies” by Beyonce), garter removal (“Seven” by Dave Matthews) and garter toss (“Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO). Then, more dancing all the way up the big sparkler departure, but not before the newlyweds shared one last private dance. What a night! Shout out to Plume Planning for keeping things running so smoothly!
DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Begin a wedding DJ is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide all our Raleigh Weddings again and again.
