Nate and Kathleen had their ceremony and reception at one of Bunn DJ Company’s favorite NC venues, Merrimon-Wynne. We love it there in case you can’t tell by our blog! The ceremony began at 4:30pm and we provided their pre-recorded music choices (great stuff) and the officiant and reader mics. That’s becoming more and more common these days for us! No problem, we’ve got the right gear so that everyone can hear!
After the ceremony, as I broke that system down, guests went inside the original house for cocktail hour. When they came back out and settled into the gorgeous carriage house (shout out to Meristem for the amazing florals), I went out and got everyone in place for introductions. The couple had picked a different song for each pairing, so I had to be sure I was on my A game for this one! It went off without a hitch and the place went bananas when the new Mr. and Mrs. Wall hit the dance floor for their first dance to “Coming Home” by Leon Bridges. If you don’t know this man, check him out, he’s a killer singer/songwriter! Next, we knocked out the parent dances with Nate and his mom dancing to “Summer Wind” by Frank Sinatra and then Kathleen and her dad dancing to “Beauty and the Beauty” by Angela Lansbury. Kathleen really wanted everyone to come out and dance to Paul Simon’s “You Can Call me Al” at the end of her dance with dad. I MC’d it perfectly and was “Nah, this won’t work”, but it did! Havoc on the dance floor before dinner even began! I knew this was going to be a killer crowd.
After dinner, the best man and Kathleen’s brothers and sisters gave some amazing toasts complete with props! And pretty much from that point on, for another 3.5 hours straight, zero stops, zero breaks, these people raged!!! I played all of their requests and then started adding in my favorite jams too. It was insane in that room! Wow! What a wedding! I can’t wait to see the photos from Channing Johnson.
DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Begin a wedding DJ is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide all our Raleigh Weddings again and again.
