This was my first time going to the Historic Wakefield Barn and even though the load in is tough, it’s worth it when you walk into that room up top. Just wow! When you go, you’ll see what I mean. Brooke and Andrew had both their ceremony and reception at this lovely new venue. The reception was upstairs and I provided the music and mics for this portion. As soon as that ended, guests made their way to the “stables” where the horses once lived for the cocktail hour. Meanwhile, upstairs was a mad dash to “flip the room” for dinner and dancing. I got set up and changed in just the nick of time!

The place went crazy when Brooke and Andrew finally hit the center of the room on the dance floor. They then went into their first dance “Speechless” by Dan & Shay. Brooke stayed out on the floor and her father joined her for their dance to “I Loved Her First” by Heartland. Next up, Andrew and his mother danced to “A Mother’s Song” by T. Carter Music. Brooke’s parents then welcomed everyone, the officiant from earlier blessed the food, salads were served and the food buffet opened up.

At the end of dinner, several people gave toasts including Brooke’s sisters who were hilarious. The cake was cut, we did an Anniversary Dance (the winning couple was married 61 years!), and then the dance floor opened! The floor was rocking all night long. No dead spots or bad songs or lack of energy. Just killer! We took a break only to do the bouquet toss (“Man I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain) and garter toss (“Danger Zone” and “Eye of the Tiger”). The night closed out around 10:30 to Eddie Money’s “Take Me Home Tonight”. What a party! I can’t wait to check out Heba Salama‘s photos. They are always awesome!

DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Begin a wedding DJ is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide all our Raleigh Weddings again and again.
