One of Our Favorite Wedding Venues

A Sutherland Reception

We’ve been in the Raleigh wedding DJ business a long time. Though we’ve expanded, Raleigh is still in many ways our home base. It’ll always be where we really got our start and made a name for ourselves.

On top of that, it has some of the best wedding venues in North Carolina. And the Sutherland is no exception to that.

Though its address is in Wake Forest, NC, the Sutherland is a Triangle venue. Their reach extends to Durham, Raleigh, and beyond.

The Sutherland is also a refreshing change of pace. Don’t get us wrong, though, we love all of our venues in the city. But sometimes it’s nice to get out of the Raleigh hustle-and-bustle. Off the beaten path in its own corner of the North Carolina piedmont, the Sutherland is a sight to behold. Every time we go we always have to pause for a few minutes upon arrival just to take everything in.

Bunn DJs Always Bring the Party

We’ve said it before but we’ll say it again: there ain’t no party like a Bunn DJ party. It’s something we’ve proven time and time again. With almost 500 Raleigh weddings a year, we’ve got a good thing going. It’s also something that we love sharing.

One of our favorite parts of our job is being able to throw the best celebrations for all of our couples. Which we do with the best music and the most talented DJs Raleigh has to offer.

Our enthusiasm comes down to a passion for creating the best events. From Wilmington to Asheville, we’ve DJed some amazing weddings across NC. And through those experiences, we’ve learned that creating the best events is as much an art as a science.

Yes, you need to have great DJs and awesome music. However, it’s a keen ear and a learned skill to be able to read the room, choose the best next song, and flawlessly mix into it (while keeping track of everything else that’s going on). More than that, a big part of creating a perfect Raleigh wedding is having solid planning and an actual connection with your couple.

You can be the best DJ in the world, but if you go into a wedding or event with poor planning… well, we don’t like to think about it.

History and Southern Charm

We always have the best time at the Sutherland. It’s definitely one of the top-tier wedding venues in Raleigh (and possibly North Carolina in general). Best of all, it’s great for wedding receptions.

A venue is one of the most important decisions couples make (other than if they should book Bunn DJs, of course). WeddingWire recently posted their wedding stats from last year, and the number one most-contacted vendor was the venue. Which didn’t surprise us at all.

The wedding venue is the first choice many couples make, and can also be one of the most important.

When you look at the Sutherland, you can see why so many couples choose to get married here.

Between the gorgeous exterior and redone interior, the Sutherland is an all around amazing wedding spot. The inside works perfectly for a throw-down reception or a more intimate celebration. In this case, it definitely worked well for some dancing.

Always the Best Music

We’ve said a lot about the Sutherland so far. But that’s to be expected when you have a venue like this.

As DJs, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Brianna and David’s jammin’ music. While we always love talking about the venue, it’s the music and the vibe that are truly our specialty.

Bunn DJs are a different breed. We never just show up, press play, and hope for the best. After working directly with Brianna and David, we were able to get a feel for their music preferences, favorite songs, and vision for the day itself. And when we have all that information, we’re able to fully craft a vibe

Brianna and David definitely had some unique music choices, too (which is something we always love to see). From a bridal party introduction to Stevie Wonder until we closed down the dance floor with “Don’t Stop Believing,” family and friends were throwing down and just having a good time. All of which was possible because of the music.

Basically, what we’re trying to say is music selection is important. It’s how you really customize your day. It creates a vibe and an atmosphere that’s unique to the couple’s day and their tastes. It’s also one of the main things that guests remember.

One other thing we noticed that we really liked was how diverse the music was throughout the day and night. During dinner we had a mix of country and soft rock, but then turned the energy up for the dance party. Even once open dancing started, we had a wide variety of tunes. From 70s disco to Beyoncé to Ed Sheeran, we really ran the gamut of artists, time periods, and genres. It’s mixtures of tastes and styles like this that make for the best dance parties.

Closing Thoughts

We love what we do. Getting to raise the roof for every single one of our couples is an amazing experience. And it’s an experience we wouldn’t trade for anything.

Everyone is different and everyone’s music tastes are different. And it’s important to us to work with all our couples to determine all their musical preferences. That way we can craft the perfect wedding soundtrack.

As a final note, we just want to say thanks again to everyone who was involved in this great wedding. From the Sutherland to Brianna and David to every other vendor, we wanted to thank everyone. We definitely won’t be forgetting this wedding, and we can’t wait until we come back to experience the Sutherland again!
