Cait and Miller’s reception took place at the amazing Cotton Room in Durham. This is one of my favorite venues around and I would die to have an office in that Golden Belt Building. So much history! In any case, the day started around 5:00pm as the guests made their way in from a ceremony that took place earlier that day. We were ready for them and the drinks and food started coming out right away!

Just past 6:00, I went out and lined up the bridal party for their big intro. If I gave you 1,000,000 guesses, you couldn’t pick the intro song on this one! It was “Space Jam” by Quad City DJs! Classic! I had to look high and low to find that one. Instead of going right into their first dance, the couple took a few minutes to say hello to guests and grab a drink while the staff from Triangle Catering poured champagne for everyone. The guests were seated and the parents of the bride welcomed everyone. They then passed the mic to the Maid of Honor and Best Man who both gave amazing toasts. And then finally, the moment we were all waiting for, Cait and Miller’s first dance to “Everlasting Love” by Natalie Cole. After they danced, they gave the blessing and the seated dinner started hustling out of the kitchen. The food looked amazing and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. By the end of dinner, we moved on to Cait and her father dancing to “Carolina Girls” by Chairmen of the Board and then Miller and his mom dancing to “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder.

Next up, open dancing and they had a full THREE hours to party! And guess what? That dance floor was full from the first song to the last! The only time we stopped was for the cake cutting (“Sugar Sugar” by The Archies) and the bouquet toss (“Single Ladies” by Beyonce). And then right back to more partying! This was a great crowd! We wrapped up right around 11:00 with “Magic” by B.O.B. and then sent everyone downstairs for a big sparkler exit. A special thanks to Diane McKinney for already getting me these killer photos!
