Thea and Rachit’s ceremony and reception took place at Celebrity Dairy in Siler City, NC on Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great. It was chilly and threatening to rain, so the ceremony was moved under the tent. However, the show must go on, and it was still awesome!
Guests showed at 4:30 for a pre-ceremony cocktail 1/2 hour and then came into the tent for the ceremony. I provided the mics for the rabbi and all of the readers and also did the music. There were only a few songs. “The Walker” by Fitz and the Tantrums for Rachit as he came in (how awesome is that?) and then an Acoustic Truth version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” for Thea as she entered with her parents and then a traditional Jewish song for the recessional. It was a lovely ceremony and immediately following, we had the guest go back inside the house so that we could “flip” the room and get it ready for dinner and dancing. I introduced just the newlyweds back into the room after the guests returned to “Sweet Disposition” by Temper Trap and then both sets of parents welcomed everyone. The food came out after that and it was delicious!
As dinner wrapped, several folks gave toasts, Rachit and Thea thanked everyone for coming and then did their first dance to “I’ve Got You” by Meadowlark as everyone clapped along. That was my first time playing that one, and it worked great! As soon as the dance ended, the klezmer band started up playing traditional Jewish music and of course the bride and groom were lifted during The Hora. What a great start to the party. Around 9:00pm, the cake was cut and I took over trying to play as much of their playlist as possible. Their guests were loving it! I rocked everything from oldies to rap to alternative to Indian music! What a blast! The team with Gather Together did an amazing job with this one! Congrats Thea and Rachit!
