Genevra Alberti and Jason Backstrom made the trip from their home in Kansas City, MO to the Triangle for their wedding at the picturesque The Oaks at Salem in Apex, NC. The bride attended UNC Chapel Hill for college and wanted an outdoor venue in the Triangle for her wedding. The couple, who met while in law school together, were joined by about 150 of their closest friends and family. The newlyweds were married under the oak tree across the pond from the main house on the property and had the reception at the main house. Guests were treated to some amazing food catered by Savory Fare in Durham, NC, including a full sushi bar with a sushi chef, which was amazing! Rebecca Ferguson of Rebecca Ferguson Photography provided extraordinary photography services for the ceremony and reception, I can’t wait to see photos!
For the ceremony, the sister of the groom and her husband performed music, which was beautiful and a tough act to follow. The bride and groom had their first dance to “My Girl” by the Temptations. The guests then enjoyed some shagging and beach music before the real party got started. After the cake cutting, everyone hit the dance floor as I played everything from Marvin Gaye to Beyonce to James Taylor to Blackstreet until the very last second possible before the send off!
The venue was perfect, the weather was perfect and the wedding was perfect. It was a great wedding and a lot of fun. We wish the bride and groom all the best as they head back to Kansas City, MO for the first time as husband and wife.
