Katie and Cory had an amazing reception this past Saturday at the highly rated and gorgeous Umstead Hotel in Cary, NC. The guests arrived for cocktails in the pre-function area while I snuck in through the loading dock and set up in the ballroom. Once the introductions took place to “Happy” by Pharrell, they went right into their first dance “I Will” by The Beatles. They had taken lessons and they paid off! They looked great out there! Next, Katie and her father danced to “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder. As soon as their dance ended. Ed & Paulette, the parents of the bride welcomed the guest and blessed the food.
Soon after, dinner came flying out in true Umstead fashion. They always do a great job with service. At the end of dinner, the best man and matron of honor gave great toasts and then Katie and Cory went over to the cake by Sugarland for the cake cutting. Then it was time to party! We turned the lights down and we started rocking. The first time I slowed it down, we did the anniversary dance and there were two couples left standing, each married for 60 years! Incredible!
This party was awesome and didn’t stop except for a brief bouquet and garter toss. It was a dance party ring until the end with a bubble departure. I can’t wait to see the photos from James & Meridith Walters of Walters & Walters. I also have to thank their planner, Joy Edwards with A Joyful Occasion, for keeping things moving. What a great team!
