Before my wedding this past weekend, I had did an amazing fundraiser event in Greensboro at The Empire Room. The event is called Poker for Preemies and the money goes towards the Family Support Network. They have tons of poker and blackjack tables, amazing prizes, and it’s just a great party!
Brian and Allison’s big day took place at Fearrington Village. The ceremony was in the Dovecote lawn right beside the restaurant and I was able to provide the microphones for the groom, officiant, and reader while Florian covered the music. The weather was amazing and everything went off without a hitch! As soon as the ceremony ended, the guests made their way into the barn for cocktails, dinner and dancing. The bridal party finished up photos with Krystal Kast, and I played cocktail music for the first hour. Once everyone was ready, I lined up the bridal party and did their intros to “Let’s Get it Started” by the Black Eyed Peas. Brian and Allison then hit the dance floor for their choreographed first dance to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli. They did a great job! The father of the bride then welcomed everyone and the food stations opened.
At the end of dinner, Allison and her dad danced to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight”, and then Brian and his mother danced to “Handprints on the Wall” by Kenny Rogers (my first time playing this!). Then it was open dancing time, for three hours! Whoa! Talk about a dance party! The only times we stopped were for three toasts and their cake cutting and for the bouquet (“Wishing and Hoping” by Dusty Springfield) and garter toss (“Hot for Teacher” by Van Halen). That was a hilarious choice since Allison is a first grade teacher! These guests were die hard and partied ’til the very end when the night ended with a big sparkler departure. What an amazing day! Congrats to Dr. and Mrs. Colin!
