Once again, I was back at the amazing Umstead for a Sunday night wedding. I met with Shereen and her mom months ago and they are heavy into music so they said “we want the best of the best” for the DJ. Well they got it! The weather was a little iffy so their ceremony had to be moved indoors, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, the show must go on. As the ceremony ended, the four musicians that provided the music took over the for the cocktail hour. Might I add that they were members of the North Carolina Symphony!? They sounded amazing!
As cocktails ended, the guest filed into the ballroom where my part of the evening began. I lined up the bridal party and brought them into to Earth Wind & Fire’s song “September”. When Shereen and Jonathan hit the dance floor, they started their first dance to “No One” by Alicia Keys. I LOVED this song when it came out, and had never played it as a first dance. Kudos to them for picking it! Shereen then danced with her grandfather to “Your Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban and Jonathan and his mother danced to “Find Your Wings” by Mark Harris. Ginnah, the mother of the bride, welcomed everyone after that and the awesome dinner service began! The food was amazing as always!
As dinner ended, the maid of honor and best man gave awesome toasts and then we had the cake cutting. As soon as they toasted each other, I fired up the dance music. The crowd was small, and it was Sunday, but they danced to every song! We rocked and rolled all the way to the very end, only taking a pause for the bouquet and garter toss. The night closed out with some “Shout” and then “Save the Last Dance for Me” by Buble. Brian Mullins was on hand taking pictures which I’m sure will be awesome. 21 Films was also there documenting with video. What a great closer to my weekend!
