ENTERTAINMENT IN KIAWAH, SC AREA
This popular resort and residential community hosts a wide variety of annual events that create an influx of people to the island throughout the year. So if you’re planning a wedding or event during one, be sure to book your guest room block and activities as early as possible.
- If you’re in Kiawah in December, be on the lookout for the Kiawah Island Marathon. Runners compete in a full marathon or half marathon that winds through island marshes and maritime forests and along the oceanfront.
- Not to be outdone, triathlon enthusiasts come to the island to swim, bike, and run at the Kiawah Island Triathlon. Competitors kick off with a swim in the Atlantic, followed by biking and running through the coastal environment. Spectators can gather at the transition area of Night Heron Park at the heart of Kiawah Island.
- South Carolina is known for its golf courses. The Kiawah Island Golf Resort has been the setting for both the Ryder Cup and the PGA Championship. The resort has also hosted the annual Women’s National Collegiate Golf Championship.
- Fans of beautiful home design and impressive art collections enjoy April’s Kiawah Art & House Tour. This acclaimed springtime self-guided tour features five homes, each one showcasing unique architecture and design, as well as inspiring art collections and island views.
- Each fall, car enthusiasts visit the island for Cars on Kiawah, hosted by Kiawah Island Motoring Retreat. This nonprofit donates a portion of the event’s proceeds to the Barrier Islands Free Medical Center.
- South Carolina has a proud military tradition. On July 4th, locals and visitors to Kiawah’s 10 miles of beautiful beaches witness Salute from the Shore, a flyover of F16s, Military C17s, and vintage planes that stretches the entire length of the South Carolina coastline.
