    • You will pass the Appalachian Pinball Museum on your right
  • 6th Ave W turns right and becomes 4 Seasons Blvd
  • Use the right lane to merge onto I-26 E/US-25 S via the ramp to Spartanburg
  • Take exit 67 for US-74 E toward Rutherfordton in Columbus
  • In Kings Mountain, use the right 2 lanes to merge onto I-85 N toward Charlotte
  • Take exit 36 for NC-16/Brookshire Blvd toward U.S-74 E/Downtown
  • Keep right at the fork, follow signs for NC-16 S/Charlotte, and merge onto NC-16 S/Brookshire Blvd

  • An easy way to pass some time in Hendersonville is a stroll through downtown, enjoying its charm. Organize an Apple Quest – a permanent scavenger hunt for brass apples created by the local Girl Scouts. Year-round, family-friendly, and free. Download clues or drop by the Visitor Center at 201 S. Main St. for a brochure.
  • Hendersonville prides itself on its outdoor gallery experience ArtScape. These light post banners are reproduced works of art selected annually through a jury process. You can find the banners on Main Street, Seventh Street, and side streets around downtown. Stop by the Visitor Center and pick up a brochure to learn more about the artists.
  • From May through October, your guests will find bears roaming Main Street Hendersonville. Actually, it’s the Bearfootin’ Public Art Walk, established in 2003. Each year, local artists create bears for this public art display. The bears are auctioned off in the fall and the proceeds benefit area nonprofits.
  • Just a 10-minute drive from Hendersonville is the historic village of Flat Rock. The village was established over 175 years ago by families from South Carolina’s Low Country. Here they built homes to escape summer’s sweltering heat, along with yellow fever and malaria. Flat Rock was known as the “Little Charleston of the Mountains.”
  • Flat Rock is also home to Connemara, the estate of Carl Sandburg. Visitors can take a paid tour of the home which houses Sandburg’s collection of 10,000 books, notes, and papers. Access to the grounds of the 264-acre working farm is free.
  • A craft beverage tour is a fun way to entertain your guests. And it also makes a great wedding party outing. The Cheers! Trail showcases five different types of craft beverages, including breweries, wineries, hard cideries, spirit distillers, and even a meadery. Create a custom tasting experience with the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop.
  • Your guests will find music all around Hendersonville with a variety of seasonal musical performances. Enjoy the vibrant local music and concert scene for free! The longest-running musical performance is the Hendersonville Street Dances, established in 1918 when the city welcomed home the soldiers from World War I. This concert series celebrates mountain heritage with traditional and local bluegrass music, square dancing, and Appalachian clogging demonstrations.
  • Henderson County is known for its apples. In fact, it’s one of the top 20 apple-growing counties in the nation. Put together a pick-your-own adventure for your guests at a nearby orchard. Each Labor Day weekend, Hendersonville plays host to the annual North Carolina Apple Festival. Drawing a crowd of 60,000, fairgoers can meet the growers and find new things to do at the festival each day. The celebration concludes on Labor Day with the King Apple Parade featuring professional floats and marching bands, all paying homage to the delicious apple.
