• Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Oceanside Harbor District, the free Oceanside Harbor Days is a family-friendly 2-day event in September offering food, arts and crafts, a Kids Zone and costume party, a beer garden and more.
• Nearby Vista was once known as the “Strawberry Capital of the World”. Folks still come out in force for the annual Strawberry Festival held in May. Downtown Oceanside is home to hundreds of vendors, food, and activities and making it all about the berry!
• Ever heard of beach soccer? Yes, it’s a thing – and a pretty popular one in Oceanside with the Beach Soccer Championships in June for amateurs and pros alike. Soccer, music and fun under the sun.
• Another unique sporting event is the annual World Bodysurfing Championships. Held in August, the event attracts 350-400 international athletes and has been running for over 40 years.
• The Dia de las Muertos at Mission San Luis Rey attracts over 20,000 attendees yearly with a free November celebration of mariachi bands, ballet folk lorico dancing groups, and Aztec entertainers.
• Fall brings Taste of Oceanside where folks can sip, sample, and stroll around downtown or even take a double decker bus. Step on and off at all the tasting stops.
• The Oceanside International Film Festival showcases the finest in independent films. The historic Brooks Theater in downtown Oceanside is home to the festival.
• Just next door in the village of Carlsbad, you’ll find the August Carlsbad Music Festival known for “adventurous music by the beach”.
• For just a short time, take in the simply stunning flower fields in north San Diego County at another Carlsbad destination, Carlsbad Ranch. For 6-8 weeks each year (mid March to the first of May), over 50 acres of Ranunculus flowers are in bloom – a sight to behold!
