Chapel Hill Country Club Wedding Venue

I had the honor and privilege of DJing for Tar Heel legend Marcus Paige and his beautiful wife Taylor, and it was amazing! The day was really hot (as the summers are here in NC) plus there was a threat of rain, so they moved the ceremony indoors at The Chapel Hill Country Club. I think it was the smartest move ever! I stood in the back and ran the audio for the officiant, Marcus and an incredible singer as Joel James, Nate Britt and Justin Jackson stood beside me. No pressure! Ha!

After the ceremony, guests headed outside for a really warm cocktail hour and eventually found their way inside and to their seats for the big introduction of the bridal party. As the song “Sirius” played in the background, I did sports-style intros for each “player”/bridal party member that Marcus and Taylor had written. They were great! People went nuts and especially when the new Mr. and Mrs. Paige came in to the classic Tar Heel fired-up song “Jump Around” by House of Pain!!! Taylor’s father gave a great welcome, the blessing was said dinner service started.

As dinner concluded, the best man Brice Johnson (another Tar Heel and NBA great), gave a great toast, as did the maid of honor. Finally, Marcus and Taylor took the mic and thanked everyone. They were so great on the mic that it made me want to hire them both! As soon as they were done, we did a quick cake cutting (“At Last” by Etta James), and then it was time for the special dances. Taylor and Marcus danced to “Stay with You” by John Legend and then Taylor and her father did a little choreographed number to “My Girl” by The Temptations. Finally, Marcus and his mother danced to “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder and then wanted everyone to join them for the ending. But it wasn’t quite time for the open dancing yet! As a surprise to the couple, several people had staged a flash mob to “Holy Grail” by JayZ and Timberlake! Their reaction was priceless!

The dance floor opened right after the mob and it was one from song one! I played everyone from Motown to Trap music and everything in between. The only break was for the bouquet toss (“You Can’t Hurry Love”) and garter toss (“Pony” by Ginuwine). Of course, I had to go full speed at the end of the night with “Jump Around”, “Raise Up” by Petey Pablo, and even “Shout”. The night wrapped up with the song “Blessings” by Chance the Rapper and a huge sparkler exit. What an amazing night and an amazing couple. Shout out to all of the top-notch vendors at this event with me, especially Gina with A Southern Soiree, who did a stellar job of keeping things on schedule!

Bunn DJ Company believes DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Being Chapel Hill wedding DJs is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide at all our weddings again and again.
