DoubleTree in Downtown Charleston Wedding Venue

Adrienne Hoving and Jimmy Zhan made the trip from their home in New York City to Charleston and were married at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Charleston. They were joined by about 80 of their closest friends and family members, with several guests coming from New York, China, and Switzerland! I was able to work with Amber VanPatten and her amazing team at the DoubleTree, as well as photographer Marni Rothschild who took some amazing pictures, a few of which you can see below!

Adrienne and Jimmy were married in the courtyard of the DoubleTree around sunset. They and their guests braved the unseasonably cold weather and had a beautiful ceremony. The officiant told some great stories about the couple such as how they met and some important moments during the four-year courtship. The most telling is that Jimmy and Adrienne always found the time to spend with one another despite living far from one another, in Manhattan terms, Jimmy working long hours in the finance industry and Adrienne being a night nurse.

After some cocktails in the courtyard, with some heaters going, the guests made their way into the “Charleston Room” where I then introduced the new Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Zhan. The newlyweds then danced their first dance as husband and wife to “All of Me” by John Legend. After the first dance, the other special man in Adrienne’s life, her father, danced to “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder. Jimmy and his mother then danced to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.

After some amazing food, catching up with family and friends, and funny, heartfelt speeches by the Matron of Honor and Best Man, who were the bride and groom’s younger siblings, respectively, and a playful rebuttal by the groom to his brother’s toast, we opened up the dance floor with “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and everyone jumped on the dance floor and never left. I knew they were going to be a great crowd right when I played that song. They wanted the music upbeat, fast and nonstop…so who am I to argue! Adrienne and Jimmy had full faith and trust in me and told me to do what I do, and I am grateful that they had that trust in me and what I do. We had a great time and everyone danced to Jay-Z, Usher, Lil Jon, Bob Seger, Rihanna, Journey, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, you name it! We closed out the night with “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Happy.”

It is weddings like this one, and clients like Adrienne and Jimmy that make me love what I do, and make it so rewarding and fun! The couple also had one of the best hashtags I’ve ever seen…#when2becomeZhan.

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Adrienne and Jimmy all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

DJing is more than just showing up and pressing play. It’s also more than just knowing how to choose songs and mix them together. Begin a wedding DJ is about creating experiences and atmospheres. That’s what our DJing philosophy boils down to. We don’t want to just provide the perfect music. We want to create the perfect day. That’s why we excel in what we do. And this wedding was a perfect example of that. Working with this awesome couple to create the day they envisioned is something we’ll never forget. And it’s a service we provide all our Charleston Weddings again and again.
