North Raleigh Hilton Wedding Venue
Nelle and Mike’s wedding reception took place at the North Raleigh Hilton right around the corner from my neighborhood. Easy drive! Everyone arrived around 6 pm for appetizers and cocktails since the ceremony itself had taken place earlier in the day. After about an hour, I had Mike and Nelle go back out along with the bridal party for an introduction. The bridal party entered “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang, but I switched it over to “Happy” by Pharrell as Mike and Nelle made their way through the crowd to the dance floor. They went right into their first dance (always recommended) which was “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by The King Himself Elvis Presley. The buffet opened right after the dance and folks got some great grub to fuel up for dancing!
The Dancing
As dinner wrapped, we turned the mic over to the best man and matron of honor who gave great toasts. After the toasts, Nelle and her son danced to “A Mother’s Song” by T. Carter, and Mike danced with his daughter to “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle. As soon as the last notes of their dance rang out, I announced open dancing and put on “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder. And from that point on for two hours plus, the dance floor was rocking! I stuck mostly with the wedding classics, but “Uptown Funk” definitely was a high point as well. The night concluded around 10:00 PM with everyone saying their goodbyes and giving well wishes to the newlyweds. What an awesome wedding! I can’t wait to see the photos from Laurence Lynn!
